This Holiday, I’m Thankful For…

By Lauren Stillman

There’s more than just sweet potatoes and stuffing to be thankful for this holiday. Some of Store Adore’s favorite shopping spots have already kicked off the season with can’t miss sales on must-have merchandise.

Shrine to all things luxe, Net-A-Porter is currently offering 50% many of its fab finds. In the perfect shade of neutral nude, I’ll be strutting in these Christian Louboutin stilettos (originally $965, now $579) long into spring.

E-commerce fave Shopbop.com has thousands of great items on sale including this one shoulder dress by ADAM (originally $495, now $247.50). With an easy draped silhouette and elegant hand-gathered rusching at the shoulder, its forgiving shape makes it the perfect dress for New Year’s Eve – you won’t feel self-conscious after a few glasses of bubbly. Shopbop customers can take advantage of an extra special offer through the weekend, earning $50 off when spending more than $250, $100 off when spending more than $500, $250 off when spending more than $1000 and $500 off when spending more than $1500 (enter THANKS2U upon check-out).

Revolve Clothing has launched it’s biggest sale ever with upwards of 9,000 items available for more than 50% off. I’ll be doing my best Blair Waldorf come December in this hunter green chiffon dress by Julie Haus (originally $315, now $221).

Robertson’s Diavolina is the perfect place for stocking up on the season’s hottest clothes and accessories. This week, fashion-followers can stock up on lustworthy items at 50% off, including this Mike & Chris leather jacket (originally $828, now $414). The buttery soft crinkled leather jacket stylishly straddles the line between Downtown edgy and Uptown chic.

Once the turkey hangover wears off on Friday, run (don’t walk!!) to Arcade, LA’s newly-opened den of glamour, for 50% off fall merchandise. These elegant hand-embroidered bags by Bird (originally $920, reduced to $460, call 323-944-0018) are the perfect way to invest in spring’s key boho tribal trend.

There’s no better time to indulge in life’s little luxuries…

We Also Adore: This Faliero Sarti Amietta Scarf (regularly $245, Store Adore price $196) is perfect for keeping our necks warm as the mercury drops, and with the black and white ombre, it kills two fall trends with one chic look.

Tis the season for … pop up shops! And we’re not just talking about silly street fairs where you can scoop up some beeswax candles for your in-laws. These are truly exclusive chic boutiques, made even more so since they only exist for a limited time.

Samantha Pleet is proud to announce the opening of her LA Pop Up Shop with a Grand Opening Party November 21st from 7-10pm at the store’s location: Space Fifteen Twenty, 1520 N. Cahuenga Boulevard in Los Angeles, CA. The store’s interior was designed by architect Patrick McGovern and includes crypt-like crevices and glowing, illuminated podiums, creating a truly mystical setting.

The Samantha Pleet Pop Up Shop will house both Samantha and Patrick Pleet fashions along with vintage items and hand selected curiosities plucked from Paris and other locations by Samantha herself. The store will also feature Jewelry by Pamela Love, belt collaboration Samantha Goes to the Library, accessories by Kendi, Yana bags, prints by William Latta and jewel-encrusted skulls by Natasha Laws. Along with Samantha’s favorite films, books, music, and Rapscallion clothing line, the Pop Up Shop is a cool comparison of Urban Outfitters, where the Rapscallion line was featured.

The Samantha Pleet Pop Up Shop Grand Opening Party is on Friday November 21st from 7-10pm at 1520 N. Cahuenga Boulevard in Los Angeles, CA. Enjoy tea macaroons and a special performance by Ariel’s Pink Haunted Graffiti.

Confederacy Opens in Los Angeles

Tuesday, October 21st, 2008
Posted in Sales & Events (Los Angeles), Store Adore Blog
By Lauren Stillman

Last month, news of Confederacy’s opening sounded like a trumpet call across Los Angeles. Brought to you by some of the biggest stars of the shops, the screen and the stage including owner Ilaria Urbinati (known for scouting the hottest emerging brands for LA’s trendsetting Satine boutique), co-owner Danny Masterson (much beloved for his That ‘70s Show ‘fro and serious DJ skills), and Albert Hammond Jr. who before he teamed up with Urbinati to design a line of suits sold exclusively at the shop could be seen touring with a little-known band called The Strokes (ha!), Confederacy has been making headlines for weeks with the promise of the ultimate emporium of hip for men and women.

The LA glitterati couldn’t help but take notice. And then we waited, and waited, and waited. The store finally opened it’s doors last weekend, delivering on every promise.

Set against a decidedly vintage décor including turn of the century cameras and weathered black and white photographs are fashion-forward silhouettes from the likes of Alexander Wang, Phi, Vena Cava, Rose, Anna Sui, Zac Posen, Proenza Schouler and more. While cutting-edge blouses and frocks are showcased prominently, jeans junkies can get their fix from a small selection of denim by Current/Elliott and Earnest Sewn. A freestanding counter offers dare-you-to-find-them-elsewhere exotic perfumes and candles.

In a separate freestanding building behind the original entry room (separated by what promises to be a courtyard cafe), hangs sophisticated menswear from designers including Robert Gellar, APC and the aforementioned rock star as well as a corner devoted to must-have shoes and handbags for both sexes.

You may even find yourself wanting to walk away with one of the uniforms—button down shirts with rolled sleeves, high-waisted skirts or shorts, vests and suspenders—which is no surprise, baring in mind the fact that they were designed by Rag & Bone.

Leave it to Urbinati, widely praised for her ability to sniff out the next-big-thing months ahead of the rest, to bring her latest venture to one of the grittier neighborhoods in LA. But there’s nothing grungy about this newbie. With its exposed brick walls, chic wood fixtures and large dressing rooms made to look like wooden telephone booths (not-to-mention the top-of-the-line merchandise), the boutique brings an elegant aesthetic to the otherwise rugged neighborhood. It won’t be long before hipsters and fashion fans across Southern California will be proudly waving the flag of this Confederacy.

New Exclusive Deal: Store Adore Shoppers Save 20% at Happy LA (Pacific Palisades and Online)

Thursday, October 2nd, 2008
Posted in Exclusive Discounts, Sales & Events (Los Angeles), Store Adore Blog

If the turquoise-painted floor (made to look like ocean waves) and Rainbow Brite dressing room curtains (actual Missoni beach towels) don’t instantly make you smile, then the selection of unique duds and accessories at happy LA will surely liven your mood. This Palisades’ boutique—the first to pop up in the Highlands region—stocks a playful mix of established brands and up-and-comers—all selected for the optimum comfort and ease suited to beach lifestyle. Owners Dawn Baker and Lori Bzura ditched their Hollywood dreams (one was a stylist for Ellen DeGeneres, the other a production coordinator for “Sex and the City”) for a peaceful Palisades lifestyle, but their backgrounds are apparent influences on the selection that mixes menswear pieces, such as tailored jackets and vests, with sexy, lingerie-inspired silky tunics and dresses. An easy-to-navigate e-shop shows all items on models (so you can see how they’ll fit on your body) and provides an insight into the beachy-life for browsers anywhere. Understanding that nothing can turn a smile into a frown faster than sky-high prices, the boutique plans to keep prices fair. Come on, L.A., get happy!

We Adore: Every time I set out to buy that wardrobe-changing, statement-making piece, I always end up with another black cashmere sweater. And I never, ever regret it. I’ll add this one from Dear Cashmere (regularly $395, Store Adore price $316) to my list. The tie front detail distinguishes it substantially from the 34 other versions in my closet. I’ve found my new style uniform.

We Adore: Whenever I read about a beachy store like happy LA, I’m sure they’ll be nothing there for me. But the cashmere sweater above and this Young Fabulous & Broke leather jacket (it’s got a cashmere lining and removable cashmere hood, regularly $398, Store Adore price $318) prove that happy LA takes those of us who don’t get to wear flip flops year round into consideration too.

We Adore: Of course, if someone does decide to take me on a hot weather getaway, I know I can browse the shop’s for the beach section, where I can load up on ocean side essentials like this Shoshanna one piece (regularly $188, Store Adore price $150) year round.
