Decide the Winner of Our Vosges Giveaway!

By Store Adore on Wednesday, June 11th, 2008

Last month, we asked you to tell us about your favorite shopping indulgence. The reward? A pretty incredible indulgence in its own right: Vosges’ La Grande Hatbox, a luxurious box set packed to the brim with exotic gourmet chocolates.

We received so many fabulous responses that we couldn’t decide a winner. We’ve narrowed it down to three finalists. Please help us decide who gets the Vosges by leaving a comment with the name of your pick. The author of the most popular tale of indulgence will get the prize!

All comments must be received by Friday, June 20th. Commenters who do not have existing accounts will be granted free memberships to Store Adore.

My biggest shopping indulgence was definitely my honeymoon shopping spree! I let my husband believe that we were going to London on our honeymoon because it is the first place we traveled together. After two trips to Harrods to buy salted caramel macaroons, three agonizing trips to Liberty of London where I debated how to maximize my very weak dollars (classic liberty print duvet set, half dozen handkerchiefs), two hats from Marks and Spencer, a Manolo Blahnik designed shoe horn from Habitat, hours at Top Shop and two Whittard of Chelsea tea sets he realized that we actually went to London on our honeymoon because it is my favorite place to shop.

Fortunately my Husband doesn’t mind shopping and really likes scones and clotted cream in the Liberty of London tea room. He also likes Cadbury chocolate, but not quite as much as he likes Vosges ;).

Two years ago I watched a television program which visited a wonderful bakery in Paris. Their breads were tauted to be quite wonderful in taste and texture. It was several weeks before Thanksgiving, and a year since my separation from my husband of 40 years. It had been a very contentious process. I decided as a treat for me and my holiday guests, I would email this company and inquire if they could deliver an assortment of their best known products by the holiday. To my surprise, I was able to get the bread a few days before Thanksgiving…and, from Paris! Never before had I spent $60 for 5 loaves of bread of varying sizes and flavors! But it felt good to treat myself to a special surprise.

My favorite shopping indulgence actually doesn’t involve purchases! It’s a great day trip to a shopping mecca (NYC, Las Vegas, or even a quick trek to my native Georgetown) and a day of browsing and trying on the most beautiful clothes I can find. There’s nothing wrong with playing Carrie Bradshaw dress up once every once in awhile, is there? Of course, cap the day with pedicures, a great cocktail, and some dark chocolate (or a cupcake) .. you’ve got to treat yourself somehow!

Current Craving: Five-inch Louboutin patent peep toe evening shoes.
Current Number of Days Until Said Shoes are on my Feet: Approximately 15 (the number until my economic stimulus check arrives).
Current Salary: Just enough to let me buy peanut butter and ramen until the next paycheck arrives due to purchase of aforementioned shoes.
